
There are a ton of customization options for the text on screen while you’re reading. You get a small snippet of the book you’re currently reading, your library, your reading lists, and a glimpse at best sellers included with your Amazon Prime account. Kindle Paperwhite (2021, 11th Gen) interfaceįor better or worse, the home page hasn’t changed much on the new Kindle Paperwhite.

The brightness scales between 0 to 24, 0 being no light, which looks as close as you can get to a real book, and 24 being the one that produces the most light in a dark space. The warm light also features a scheduler, which lets you adjust when it turns on, similar to what you find on a smartphone.

I hope Amazon can tweak dark mode in the future. A pitch-black background paired with white text isn't great for reading, but if you lighten up the background a few shades, it’ll look more natural.

However, I’m not a fan of dark mode, mostly because of the limitations of the Kindle Paperwhite. I love the look of the warm light because it gets the page closer to looking like a real book, and it also helps with eye fatigue.
